Frequently Asked Questions

Do you own Tres Aguas or are you a property management company?

We are the owners of Tres Aguas and are members of Hostfully and the Association for Short-Term Rental Homeowners (ASTRHO).

Why Friday to Friday?

Mike's parents were long time co-owners for a property in Duck that marked Friday for changeover. We learned pretty quickly that it was so helpful since most changeovers occur on Saturday. So you'll miss the Saturday traffic and when you head back home, you'll have the full weekend to recover.

You mentioned the traffic on Saturday, how bad is it?

It's bad. There's only one road in and one road out for Corolla and Duck renters. The volume of traffic coupled with the foot traffic in Duck create the perfect storm. In season you can see bumper to bumper backups southbound on Duck Road (NC-12) from 8:00am-11:00am. The traffic northbound will start around 1:00pm and can last until 7:00pm.

Do you have tips for Saturdays?

Yes, stay put! Go to the beach, enjoy the pool and plan to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the house on Saturday. You can bring all of your food down with you or you can make a grocery store run on Friday. Harris Teeter and Food Lion are manageable on Friday nights. Food Lion is open 24 hours in-season.

What do I need to bring?

We'll have sheets, bath towels, pool towels, Tommy Bahama back pack beach chairs (8), two beach umbrellas, traditional coffee maker, Keurig, and coffee grinder.

We will provide a starter pack of trash bags, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, toilet paper, and paper towels.

Please plan to bring bottled water. Our refrigerator has an ice maker with a filter, but it does not have a water dispenser. This is by design - our experience is that the water line gets clogged or broken often.

Where is the beach?

We've created a page dedicated to answering that question!

Need a beach wheelchair?

Reserve one here with the Southern Shores Fire Department - it's free!

We want to try another beach, where can we park?

We will provide you with one Town of Southern Shores Parking Pass and one Southern Shores Civic Association pass. The two co-exist but are not one in the same. Here is the map that helps define where you can park and which permit you'll need. These permits will also give you access to the sunset viewing park and the marina where you can launch small watercraft.

I have a problem at the house, who should I call?

The hosts of course! We are here to make sure you have a wonderful vacation.  For those times when something goes awry, we have a list of professionals who will help rectify any situation - from pool guy to bug guy. We will make sure your stay is perfect.

Do you have cable?

We offer a 65" 4k HD LED TV and a Roku 4k Stick equipped with a Tres Aguas subscription to YouTube TV so you'll be able to watch shows, sports, news, and the Olympics. You also have the freedom to login to your favorite streaming service.

Do you accept pets?

At this time, we do not accept pets. We have two terrier poodles and they aren't allowed to visit : )
